Don Bosco (1815-1888) is the [patron saint](/guides/who-is-my-patron-saint) of magicians. Why? As a boy, he learned how to juggle and do magic tricks. He would put on a show for his friends, but to get a ticket, you had to pray a Rosary with him.
The Oratory
He worked in Turin, Italy, during the Industrial Revolution. The streets were full of homeless boys who were treated like trash. Bosco created the "Oratory"—a mix of church, school, and playground. He believed in the Preventive System: Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness. "It is not enough to love the young; they must know that they are loved."
The Dreams
He had vivid prophetic dreams (like the Two Columns dream: The Church ship anchored between the Eucharist and Mary).
