The Luminous Mysteries (Mysteries of Light) were added by St. John Paul II in 2002. They are traditionally prayed on Thursdays. These mysteries focus on the public ministry of Jesus Christ, bridging the gap between His childhood and His Passion.

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." — John 8:12

1. The Baptism in the Jordan

Fruit of the Mystery: Openness to the Holy Spirit

Jesus descends into the waters of the Jordan to be baptized by John. The heavens open, and the Father proclaims Him the Beloved Son.

"This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:17)

Prayer Intention: We pray for the grace to live our baptismal promises and listen to the voice of God.

2. The Wedding at Cana

Fruit of the Mystery: To Jesus through Mary

At Mary's request, Jesus performs His first miracle, turning water into wine, revealing His glory and strengthening the faith of His disciples.

"Do whatever he tells you." (John 2:5)

Prayer Intention: We pray for trust in Mary's intercession and faith in Jesus' power.

3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom

Fruit of the Mystery: Repentance and Trust in God

Jesus preaches the Gospel, calls for conversion, and forgives sins, proclaiming the coming of the Kingdom of God.

"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15)

Prayer Intention: We pray for the conversion of heart and the courage to spread the Gospel.

4. The Transfiguration

Fruit of the Mystery: Desire for Holiness

Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up the mountain and is transfigured before them, revealing His divine glory to prepare them for His Passion.

"And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun." (Matthew 17:2)

Prayer Intention: We pray for spiritual transformation and the hope of glory.

5. The Institution of the Eucharist

Fruit of the Mystery: Adoration

At the Last Supper, Jesus offers His Body and Blood as food for our souls, instituting the Holy Eucharist and the Priesthood.

"Take, eat; this is my body." (Matthew 26:26)

Prayer Intention: We pray for a greater love for the Holy Eucharist and respect for the priesthood.
