The Glorious Mysteries: From Resurrection to Coronation
The Glorious Mysteries are traditionally prayed on Wednesdays and Sundays (except during Advent and Lent). They focus on the Resurrection of Christ and the glory of Mary as Queen of Heaven.
1. The Resurrection
Fruit of the Mystery: Faith
Jesus rises from the dead on the third day, conquering sin and death forever.
"He is not here; for he has risen, as he said." (Matthew 28:6)
Prayer Intention: We pray for a strong, unshakeable faith in Christ's victory.
2. The Ascension
Fruit of the Mystery: Hope
Forty days after the Resurrection, Jesus ascends into heaven to take His place at the right hand of the Father.
"I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2)
Prayer Intention: We pray for the virtue of hope and a desire for heaven.
3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit
Fruit of the Mystery: Wisdom / Love of God
The Holy Spirit descends upon Mary and the Apostles at Pentecost, filling them with courage to preach the Gospel.
"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:4)
Prayer Intention: We pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and zeal for souls.
4. The Assumption of Mary
Fruit of the Mystery: Devotion to Mary
At the end of her earthly life, the Blessed Virgin Mary is taken body and soul into the glory of heaven.
"The Queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold." (Psalm 45:9)
Prayer Intention: We pray for the grace of a holy death and true devotion to Our Mother.
5. The Coronation of Mary
Fruit of the Mystery: Eternal Happiness
Mary is crowned by the Holy Trinity as Queen of Heaven and Earth, the perfection of the Church.
"A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars." (Revelation 12:1)
Prayer Intention: We pray for final perseverance and trust in Mary's queenship.
