In the Davidic Kingdom (Old Testament Israel), the King had many wives. So, who was the Queen? It wasn't the wife. It was the Mother. She was called the Gebirah (Great Lady).
The Evidence (1 Kings 2:19)
When Bathsheba (the Queen Mother) enters the throne room regarding Solomon:
- The King stands up to meet her.
- He bows to her.
- He places a throne for her at his right hand.
- He says: "Ask, Mother, for I will not refuse you."
The Fulfillment
Jesus is the new Solomon. He is the Davidic King. Therefore, His mother (Mary) is the new Gebirah. She is not a Queen in her own right; she is Queen because she is the Mother of the King.
Revelation 12
"A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars." There is only one woman crowned in heaven.
