Judgment — What Happens the Second You Die?

There are two judgments. One happens immediately. One happens at the end of time. The difference between Particular and General Judgment.

Myth: When you die, you sleep until the end of the world. Fact: When you die, your soul is judged instantly.

1. Particular Judgment

The moment your soul leaves your body, you stand before Christ. There is no jury. There are no witnesses. Just you and the Truth. Your life will flash before your eyes—not as a movie, but as God sees it. Every hidden act, every secret thought. Result: Heaven (possibly via Purgatory) or Hell. This is permanent.

2. General Judgment (The Last Day)

At the end of time, all bodies will appear before Christ (Resurrection of the Body). Why judge us again? To reveal the ripple effects of our lives.

  • Your good deed might have inspired someone 500 years later.
  • Your bad example might have led generations into sin. The General Judgment reveals God's Justice to the whole universe.

Judge yourself now so He doesn't have to later. Go to Confession. Find a time on the MyPrayerTower app.
