St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274). His classmates called him the "Dumb Ox" because he was big and quiet. His teacher, St. Albert the Great, said: "This ox will bellow so loud he will be heard by the world."
The 5 Ways (A Summary)
You don't need faith to know God exists. You just need logic.
- Motion: Someone had to push the first domino (The Unmoved Mover).
- Causality: Effect needs a Cause. The First Cause is God.
- Contingency: Things exist that didn't have to exist (like you). There must be a Necessary Being that holds them in existence.
- Gradation: We know "Good, Better, Best." There must be a standard of Perfection.
- Design: The universe has order (gravity, DNA). Order requires an Intelligent Designer.
