Blessed Carlo Acutis, the millennial "cyber-apostle" (beatified in 2020), had one hobby: cataloging every Eucharistic miracle in history on his website. He knew that for a skeptical modern world, seeing is believing.
Here are 5 miracles where the "veil" was lifted, and the Host physically changed.
1. Lanciano, Italy (8th Century)
A monk doubted the Real Presence during Mass. At the words of consecration, the host turned into flesh and the wine into blood. The Science: In the 1970s, the WHO (World Health Organization) analyzed the samples.
- It is real human flesh.
- It is myocardium (heart tissue).
- The blood type is AB (same as the Shroud of Turin).
- It is still preserved today, 1,200 years later.
2. Buenos Aires, Argentina (1996)
A discarded host was placed in water to dissolve. Instead, it turned into a bloody piece of flesh. Archbishop Bergoglio (now Pope Francis) ordered an investigation. The Science: Dr. Frederick Zugibe (New York cardiologist) analyzed it blindly. He said: "This is heart muscle from the left ventricle. It is inflamed, meaning the person was beaten severely around the chest. And... the heart was alive when the sample was taken."
3. Santarém, Portugal (13th Century)
A woman stole a host for a sorceress. It began to bleed in her scarf. She hid it in a trunk. In the darkness, the host emitted a bright light that shone through the wood.
4. Bolsena-Orvieto, Italy (1263)
A priest doubted. Blood seeped from the host onto the corporal (altar cloth). This miracle led Pope Urban IV to institute the Feast of Corpus Christi.
5. Sokółka, Poland (2008)
A dropped host was placed in water. A red clot formed. The Science: Pathologists found that the bread and the heart tissue were interwoven at a microscopic level. No technology on earth can weave bread and heart muscle together like that.
Science confirms what faith teaches. Jesus is here. Explore Carlo Acutis' full catalog on the MyPrayerTower app.
