To Be Kept Free From Covetousness

Heavenly Father, I pray that You would keep me free from the love of money, and the desire to gain more and more, for I know that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil and help me I pray, to be content with what I have. But Lord, I also beseech You to keep me free from covetousness and from jealousies towards those that are blessed with more worldly wealth. Father, I do find it difficult not to wish I had more and have found myself on occasions resenting those that are well-off, so develop in me a right spirit towards wealth and material things, and keep me from covetous thoughts and fleshly inclinations. Forgive me for the times that I do succumb to an envious attitude and resentful thinking. I know in my heart that this is wrong. Lord, I want to develop right thinking towards wealth and money, knowing that those who trust in their riches will inevitably fall. Search me Lord and renew a right spirit within me, and help me to develop a thankful heart for what I do have, knowing that this is well pleasing to You. In Jesus' name,Amen.
