ST. GILES CHRISTIAN MISSION

Be the first to review

Its History, Mission, and what God is doing todayWe are an inner city Church in the centre of London ,that has been preaching the gospel since 1860. Our first type of ministry was called ‘Prison gate work’. people coming out of prison were invited for a breakfast so they might keep on the straight and narrow. The first probation officers worked from the Mission.
The Most famous preacher was D.L. Moody to preach in the building. He arrived in England on his first visit and he was asked to preach. At first he declined but later he agreed. So powerful was his preaching that he was asked to preach on more nights. 400 people were saved into the Kingdom
Now our work is different. But the same message. As an inner city Church we seek to bring the gospel in a relevent way to the local people.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will move into the lives of the people living around us, convicting them of sin and turning to Jesus. There is a huge emptiness that people have without Christ. He is the only way of Salvation and eternal life

News of the MissionWe were very pleased to welcome the Rt Hon Chris Smith M.P. for Islington to our lunch club on a cold Wednesday in January. He stayed for an hour and spoke to everyone that was there. We greatly appreciated his visit, as we know he is a very busy man, and on leaving he thanked all the staff for the work that is done in the community.

Ethiopian Congregation Conference.
Our Ethiopian Congregation held a week of meetings at the end of January that attracted many Ethiopians living in the London area. The preacher was Pastor Melese Wogu from Pasadena USA. Pray that the seed sown will bear fruit over the coming months.

Jamal and Merna Salib
They are now undergoing further training with YWAM in Nuneaton. Jamal and Merna were here for four years and during that time Madj and Fadi were born. Jamal worked as our caretaker. We were very blessed with their ministry, which was mainly amongst Arab speaking Muslims. This was a very difficult ministry but we were able to see fruit from it. It gave us an insight into Middle East customs and to the area that Jesus was born into.
We now welcome Richard Overitt and Travis and Alison Souza. Richard has been doing a great work amongst the young people and children.
