*Holistic ministry is conceptualized as affirming that evangelism and sociopolitical involvement, though functionally separate yet relationally inseparable, and both are essential to the total ministry of Christ’s church, according to Tetsunao Yamamori, Serving with the Urban Poor, (Manila, Philippines: Logos Publication, 1999), p. 231. Cf., Melba P. Maggay, Transforming Society, p. 11. Maggay states here that evangelism and social action are distinct; both however, are parts of our Christian duty.Or “a tissue paper separating material from spiritual” as the late George McLeod of the Iona Community, put it.
