AND I HEARD A GREAT VOICE OUT OF HEAVEN SAYING, BEHOLD, THE TABERNACLE OF GOD IS WITH MEN, AND HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM, AND THEY SHALL BE HIS PEOPLE, AND GOD HIMSELF SHALL BE WITH THEM, AND BE THEIR GOD. AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF SUPERINTENDENT L. ANDERSON

Superintendent Larry Anderson was born June 23, 1953 to the parents of William and Jennie Anderson. His mother told him that he was not breathing when he was born. She prayed to God and asked him to spare her son’s life. God answered her prayer and put breath into his body. His father taught him that if you wanted something in life, work hard for it. He always told him, “you don’t know what you can do until you try it.” Superintendent Anderson’s mother taught him and all of her children to live for Christ. These teachings of his parents stayed with him through the years, and are very important guidelines for him today.
Superintendent Anderson attended Burrell Slater High School until 1969. He was a member of the high school band and played the clarinet. In 1969, he attended and graduated from Coffee High School. In 1971, he attended the University of North Alabama, majoring in Sociology. He has also received a certificate in Christian Education from the Church of God in Christ.
Superintendent Anderson has worked for several companies in the Shoals area, including Martin Industries, Robbins Tire & Rubber, Union Carbide, and Tennessee Valley Authority.
In 1965 at the age of twelve, Superintendent Anderson met Etta Marie Ragland. It was love at first sight. Six years later at the age of eighteen he asked her to be his wife. On December twenty-fourth, 1971, she became Mrs. Etta Marie Anderson. God has blessed this union with three children, Vanesha (6th – 9th Science Teacher at Cloverdale Jr. High), Angela (UNA), Timothy (Bradshaw). Mrs. Anderson is employed by Parisian Department Store. She is the Assistant Store Manager and Personnel Director. Mrs. Etta Anderson is a very loving and devoted wife, mother, and career woman.
Superintendent Anderson grew up in the Morrow Memorial Church of God in Christ, Florence, Alabama. This is the only church of which he has been a member of. On July 26, 1979, he accepted and acknowledged his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For the next four years, he worked faithfully by his Pastor, Superintendent W.R. Morrow. Under the leadership of Superintendent Morrow, he received his Minister’s License. Superintendent Morrow recommended him to the Church of God in Christ Ordination Examining Board. After passing the Examining Board, he became an ordained Elder of the Church of God in Christ in August 1982.
On October 11, 1983, Superintendent Anderson became founder of the New Life Church of God in Christ, Tuscumbia, Al. He has formerly held numerous positions in the church. These include: Dist. Chaplain, Dist. Expeditor, Dist. Public Relations Chairman, Dist. Home & Foreign Mission President, assistant Superintendent of the Decatur Dist., assistant pastor at Friendly Temple, asst. pastor of Faith Temple, state treasure Home & Foreign Mission Dept., state Chaplain of Young People Willing Workers Dept. Superintendent Anderson presently serves as pastor of New Life Church of God in Christ, pastor of Morrow Memorial Church of God in Christ, State Public Relations Chairman, and Superintendent of the William Ross Morrow District.
Superintendent Anderson has fed the hungry, clothe the naked; housed the poor, provided transportation for those in need, and preached in the prison He endeavors to forever do the will of God, and be the servant that the Lord has called him to be.
