Welcome to our WebsiteDear Friend

We are glad you are visiting our web site. Thanks. Do you have a church home? If not, consider Greater McGlothen Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ. We would be delighted for our home to become yours too. Here at McGlothen Temple, youll find caring people, a sincere welcome and a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ. Many people have found reality with God here. Why not you too?

This web site will help you get to know us a little better–who we are, what we believe, how we can serve you, and what God is doing among us here. Enjoy!

I sincerely hope you will join us for worship. “Virtual” Greater McGlothen Memorial Temple here at the web site is good. The real thing is better. So come and introduce yourself to someone here at McGlothen this coming Sunday. We would be happy to meet you face to face.

God be with you.

Statement of Faith:
The Worship of God

Worshipping the Triune God is our ultimate response to him. It is the one thing we do on earth which will continue forever in heaven. (Revelation 7:9-12). The Father himself seeks those who will worship him in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). We will worship no idol, for our Lord is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14). But we will worship him, the one and only true God, with head, heart and resources (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Malachi 3:8-10). Every effort of our ministry will be fueled by the transforming power of glorifying and enjoying God.

The Ministry of the Word
The Bible will be preached and taught in the power of the Holy Spirit at every level of our church (1 Thessalonians 1:5). Sustained by prayer, we will proclaim the whole counsel of God with uncompromising, winsome confience (Romans 1:16). The preaching of the Word will be Christ-filled (II Corinthians 1:20) and life-giving (Psalms 19:7-8). The hearing of the Word will be with eagerness and humility (Psalms 119:131; James 1:21). We will be transformed as we behold the glorious face of Christ revealed in the gosel (II Corinthians 3:18). And the most persuasive ministry of the Word will be demonstrated in our daily lives. (II Corinthians 3:1-3).

The Discipleship of the World

Making disciples among all the nation is the command of our Lord with a promise of his manifest presence (Matthew 28:18-20). In our own community and around the world, we will work hard to “present everyone complete in Christ” (Colossians 1:28) through evangelism and discipleship. We will be a radiant church, holding out the word of life with a willingness to suffer (Philippians 1:29 2:14-16). We will adorn the message of the gospel with Christlike deeds of mercy. (Matthew 9:35-38). We will humble ourselves by serving others (Proverbs 3:34; Mark 10:42-45).
