On November 21, we celebrate Mary being presented in the Jerusalem Temple by her parents, Joachim and Anne. The Protoevangelium of James says she lived there from age 3 to 12, weaving the veil of the Temple (the same veil that tore when Jesus died).
Is it True?
Historically? We don't know. Jewish law didn't typically allow girls to live in the Holy of Holies. Theologically? Yes. Mary IS the Temple. She is the dwelling place of God. By entering the stone Temple, the "Living Temple" was preparing to replace it. She dedicated herself completely to God before she even knew she would be the Mother of God.
Feast of Cloistered Nuns
Because of this "set apart" nature, this day is often dedicated to praying for nuns in cloistered communities (Pro Orantibus Day).
Set yourself apart. Dedicate your day to God on the MyPrayerTower app.
