The cartoon version of heaven (angels on clouds playing harps) is tragic. Who wants to do that for eternity? The Catholic version is radically different.
The Beatific Vision
Heaven is seeing essence of God face-to-face. Imagine the most beautiful sunset, the most delicious meal, the most intense romantic love, and the exhilarating feeling of solving a complex problem—all rolled into one infinite moment. God is Infinite Goodness. You will never get "bored" because there is always more of Him to discover. It is an eternal "Aha!" moment.
The New Earth
We won't just be floating spirits. We will get our bodies back (glorified bodies). Revelation 21 speaks of a "New Heaven and a New Earth." There will be color, sound, friendship, and perhaps even pizza (theologically speculative, but hopeful). You will know your family and friends, and you will love them perfectly, without jealousy or misunderstanding.
